“The national crisis of immigrant parents being separated from their families as a result from the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” policy is now in our own backyard as Oregonians. Last week, 123 immigrant men were transferred to the Sheridan federal prison. Join immigrant advocacy community groups and organizations from throughout the state of Oregon at a vigil on Monday, June 18th from 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM at the Sheridan Fishing Pond South Side Park in support of the 123 detained immigrants. Parking available at the fishing pond parking lot or at the Sheridan High School parking lot.

“From McMinnville, go west on Hwy 18 to Exit 33, exit right, then turn right again to go south on SW Ballston Road for 0.4 miles, turn left onto gravel road and drive about ¼ mile to fishing pond. From downtown Salem take Hwy 22 west for about 20 miles and watch for Red Prairie Road on the right, then turn left to stay on Red Prairie. After about 3.7 miles, turn right onto Highway 18 East/Salmon River Highway for a mile, then take Exit 33 toward Sheridan, then left on SW Ballston Road and watch for the sign on the left.

“We must stand together to demand that the federal immigration policy that is separating families come to an end. We must stand alongside the detained immigrant men to have faith, hope and strength to fight this cruel injustice. We must demand full transparency about the separated children’s location, conditions and plans for reunification with their parents.

“Debemos mantenernos unidos para exigir que la política federal de inmigración que está separando a las familias llegue a su fin. Debemos estar junto a los hombres inmigrantes detenidos para tener fe, esperanza y fuerza para luchar contra esta cruel injusticia. Debemos exigir una transparencia total sobre la ubicación, las condiciones y los planes de la reunión de los niños separados con sus padres.

“We need a large community response that demonstrates that this treatment of people is not acceptable. This is not who we are in Oregon.
